Some stories are difficult to share, but they need to be shared nonetheless.
The following story of domestic abuse is one that has brought a multitude of emotions for me, and my family. Shame seems to be at the forefront, which is a big part of why I’m sharing. People in relationships that include violence or secrets often experience shame. This same shame prevents them from standing up for change, asking for help and ultimately can keep them stuck in the domestic violence cycle. It can even keep them thinking that it’s “not that bad” or that maybe it isn’t even domestic violence after all. Whatever it is, domestic violence or another situation that creates shame, it needs to be brought to light for healing. For this purpose I invite you to read and share the story below.
Are you struggling as a parent? If so, I’d like to share something with you: a story and some hope.
