Please continue reading to learn more about Playful Planet, which is offering our readers a giveaway of Storyland Yoga, a value of $14.99.

About Playful Planet

Playful Planet is the convergence of life, business, and love for Karen and Bryan Duggan. On a “mission to create a Playful Planet by empowering kids and their families to be healthy and live sustainably”, the Duggans offer interactive products that blend education and conscious living to promote well being for all of earth’s inhabitants. Playful Planet’s website also offers a host of resources such as Playful Tube media with a message and Simple as ABC weekly health and green tips.

About Storyland Yoga

Storyland Yoga was born through a “light bulb” moment when Karen realized how many moms want to participate in yoga with their children, but may not be able to attend classes. She started a conversation with her daughter’s “kid yoga” teacher and experienced a blossoming of ideas for how to her and her husband’s combined entertainment experience to create playful planet opportunities. Storyland Yoga is the first in the Storyland Activity Series, with much more to come.

Storyland Yoga is exactly what the name implies: a blend of story and yoga, with the integration of conscious, caring practices to help the earth and those who live on it. The instructor, Ahmed Fahmy, tells two tales while he leads the children (and any watching adults) through various yoga poses to stretch, invigorate, and strengthen the body.

I love stories and I love yoga. I love spending time with my kids doing things we both enjoy and I love sharing valuable skills and activities we can all benefit from. Can you tell I was sold from the jump? πŸ™‚

I appreciate how the instructor, Ahmed, talks and exercises with the children, instead of just instructing them. It compels me to participate with my children. My experience of Ahmed is someone who genuinely enjoys yoga, story telling, and children. He talks to the children in an engaging, yet very genuine way.

I love how specific actions to help the planet and its inhabitants are woven through out the stories. From electric cars to using sunblock to protect one’s skin, Ahmed creatively incorporates self-care and care for those around us.

The yoga poses are simple enough for children, yet really provide me an opportunity to stretch and take care of my body. As I write this I am three months post-partum with our fifth child. I have plenty of jiggle to stretch and firm. Storyland Yoga allows me toΒ  take care of my body while enjoying time with my kids. Win-win.

The scenery is gorgeous. One tale is about a beached whale and it takes place on a real ocean beach. The kids get to move around on the beach and it’s lovely to see them out in the sun enjoying yoga and a story. The other tale is about a momma condor who loses some eggs. The kids get to run around as they help her locate them in the great outdoors. It’s as close to being outside as one can get while practicing yoga inside with the kids – great for the winter or cold, rainy days.

On the DVD cover made from sturdy cardboard, Karen suggests doing Storyland Yoga with our children — as well as inviting over friends for a play date. Parents can participate or watch, whatever works for the visit. We haven’t done that yet, but look forward to including others in our Storyland Yoga practice.
